Phnom Penh, 11 September 2025 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, will lead a high-level Cambodian parliamentary delegation to the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46), to be held in Malaysia from 16–21 September 2025, at the invitation of Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Johari Bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia and President of AIPA-46.
The AIPA-46 General Assembly, hosted by the Parliament of Malaysia, will convene under the theme “Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable ASEAN,” underscoring the shared commitment to a future of inclusive prosperity and resilient development.
During the session, Samdech Khuon Sudary will attend key meetings, including the Executive Committee, which determines the agenda and procedures of the General Assembly, and discussions on the approval of major work by the AIPA Secretariat. She will also deliver a keynote address at the 2nd WAIPA Women Political Leaders Forum and make an intervention during the first plenary session of the General Assembly, among other engagements.
Meanwhile, members of the Cambodian delegation will participate in various AIPA committee meetings, including the Meeting of Women Parliamentarians (WAIPA), the Committee on Political Matters, the Committee on Economic Matters, the Committee on Social Matters, the Committee on the Joint Communiqué, the Meeting of Young Parliamentarians (YPA), as well as dialogues with about 16 AIPA observer parliaments.
AIPA, the parliamentary forum of ASEAN, holds its annual General Assembly to promote dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful solutions, contributing to the 2045 vision of a sustainable, inclusive, and people-centered ASEAN Community.
The participation of Cambodia’s high-level parliamentary delegation at AIPA-46 not only reinforces parliamentary mechanisms and promotes multilateralism, but also serves as a platform to strengthen and broaden friendship as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation with other countries and development partners. This engagement is expected to deliver tangible benefits to the people, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, society, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges at both regional and global levels.
During the stay in Kuala Lumpur, Samdech Khuon Sudary is also scheduled to hold working meetings with parliamentary leaders from AIPA member countries, AIPA observer parliaments, and development partners, to further strengthening Cambodia’s parliamentary diplomacy for peace, stability, inclusive, and sustainable growth for the interests of the people.
