Beijing, 13 October 2025 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Monday delivered a powerful statement at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women under the theme “One Shared Future: New and Accelerated Process for Women’s All-Round Development.”

In her remarks, Samdech Khuon Sudary said, “It is my honor to join this historic commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action — a landmark that continues to guide our shared commitment to advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality.” She also commended the People’s Republic of China for its leadership and dedication to this global cause.

Samdech emphasized that peace remains the foundation of all development goals, noting that without peace, no nation can ensure equality or progress.

“Peace is the precondition to achieve our goals. Taking this opportunity, I would like to call upon the international community to closely monitor the implementation of the fragile ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand to restore peace and normalcy,” she declared.

Reflecting on Cambodia’s three-decade journey since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), Samdech Khuon Sudary reaffirmed its enduring role as a national development framework.

“Since 1995, Cambodia has embraced the Beijing Platform for Action as a guideline of national development. Women are the backbone of our society and economy,” she stated.

She highlighted Cambodia’s notable progress achieved through a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, including improved gender parity in education, a significant decline in maternal mortality and domestic violence, and the growing presence of women in public service, entrepreneurship, and peacekeeping operations.

Looking ahead, Samdech Khuon Sudary reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to partner globally in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.

“Cambodia stands ready to work closely with our partners to build a future where every woman and girl can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity,” she concluded.

The Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, gathered heads of state, parliamentary leaders, and development partners to accelerate global commitments toward gender equality, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development.
