Hanoi, Viet Nam, 28 July 2026 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Tuesday afternoon met with Hon. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to advance economic cooperation, investment, connectivity, and the implementation of bilateral agreements for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
 
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung warmly welcomed Samdech Khuon Sudary and the Cambodian delegation, describing the visit as another demonstration of the enduring friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Cambodia and Viet Nam.
 
He reaffirmed Viet Nam's unwavering support for Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, expressing confidence that Cambodia would achieve its national development goals under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party.
 
Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed her sincere appreciation for the meeting, noting that it reflected the depth of the relationship between the two countries, founded on the spirit of "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and long-term stability," which has enabled Cambodia and Viet Nam to stand shoulder to shoulder through both challenges and opportunities.
 
To further deepen bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung encouraged more high-level exchanges and closer institutional cooperation. He also expressed Viet Nam's continued support for Cambodia's efforts to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), encourage greater Vietnamese investment in Cambodia, and implement bilateral agreements. He also thanked Cambodia for its continued cooperation in the search for and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who lost their lives in Cambodia.
 
Samdech Khuon Sudary briefed the Prime Minister on her earlier meetings with the General Secretary and State President and with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam, noting their shared commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries at the legislative and executive levels, as well as between national and sub-national institutions.
 
Samdech also welcomed the outcomes of the recent meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung in June 2026, describing it as an important step in expanding cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, security and defence, and people-to-people exchanges.
 
Welcoming greater Vietnamese investment and tourism, Samdech Khuon Sudary reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to maintaining a favourable investment environment. She encouraged Viet Nam to explore additional investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly in agriculture, education, technology, and innovation, while promoting closer business-to-business cooperation.
 
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding economic cooperation and raising bilateral trade to US$20 billion. Samdech Khuon Sudary noted that Viet Nam is one of Cambodia's key trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching US$11.33 billion in 2025 and expected to exceed US$12 billion in 2026.
 
Beyond trade and investment, Samdech Khuon Sudary commended the close cooperation between Cambodia and Viet Nam in human resource development. She thanked the Vietnamese Government for providing scholarships and training programmes for Cambodian students and officials, which have contributed to strengthening Cambodia's human capital.
 
She also encouraged the relevant authorities of both countries to enhance timely information sharing and strengthen cooperation in combating transnational crimes, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online scams.
 
Despite regional and global challenges, Samdech Khuon Sudary noted that Cambodia has continued to strengthen national unity and resilience under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet by investing in human capital, promoting SMEs, and pursuing the country's development goals for 2030 and 2050.
 
Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed appreciation for Viet Nam's support for the peaceful settlement of the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict and its participation in the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). She called for Viet Nam's continued support for implementing the ceasefire, while Prime Minister Le Minh Hung reaffirmed Viet Nam's readiness to support a peaceful resolution.
 
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence that stronger economic cooperation, expanded investment, enhanced connectivity, and sustained high-level engagement would further deepen the Cambodia–Viet Nam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and contribute to lasting peace, stability, and shared prosperity for the peoples of both countries.
