Phnom Penh, 13 August 2026 — Hon. Lork Kheng, Chairwoman of Commission 8 of the National Assembly and Chair of the 9th APPF-GH Organizing Committee, on Thursday delivered closing remarks at the 9th Asia-Pacific Parliamentarian Forum on Global Health (9th APPF-GH) at the National Assembly Palace.
The event reaffirmed a shared commitment to translate parliamentary dialogue and commitments into concrete action to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) amid climate change and artificial intelligence.
Delivering the closing remarks, Hon. Lork Kheng highlighted the productive exchange of views and best practices throughout the three-day Forum and the shared determination to advance UHC across the Asia-Pacific region.
“We talk. We do. We deliver. Our Forum is not a talk shop. It is a platform for action—a place where ideas become commitments and commitments become results,” Hon. Lork Kheng stressed.
She encouraged delegates to carry the spirit of the Forum, its commitments and concrete action plans back to their respective countries and translate them into meaningful results for the people they serve.
Hon. Lork Kheng also underscored the importance of multi-stakeholder dialogue and partnership, calling for a stronger culture of dialogue and cooperation to generate greater positive impacts on people’s lives.
Looking ahead, she reiterated three key priorities highlighted during the Forum: prioritizing primary health care; eliminating financial, geographical and social barriers to healthcare; and building health systems that proactively protect those most at risk.
On behalf of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, under the leadership of Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, Hon. Lork Kheng expressed appreciation to all parliamentary delegations and partners for their active participation and contribution to the success of the Forum.
She also extended special appreciation to the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, expert speakers, technical and Secretariat staff, and the Royal Government of Cambodia for their contributions to the successful organization of the 9th APPF-GH.
The three-day Forum brought together parliamentarians, health leaders, representatives of the World Health Organization and partner organizations from across the Asia-Pacific region to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation on Universal Health Coverage in the era of climate change and artificial intelligence.
Throughout the Forum, delegates discussed the importance of strengthening primary health care, improving financial protection and equitable access to healthcare, building resilient health systems, and ensuring that technological innovation contributes to better health outcomes for all.
The Forum also provided opportunities for delegates to strengthen friendship and partnership. As part of the programme, delegates travelled to Kampot Province for a field visit to local health facilities, where they gained first-hand insights into community-based primary health care and healthcare delivery in Cambodia.
Looking toward the 10th APPF-GH, Hon. Lork Kheng expressed hope that the next gathering would provide an opportunity not only to share new strategies, but also to demonstrate “measurable progress born from the commitments we made here in Phnom Penh.”
